Tarne's Match Report

Lincolnshire Schools' Football Association
Under 11 Danone Cup
County Competition Finals 2013-14

On Saturday 25th January 2014, The Richmond School took part in the U11 county Competition in Sleaford. The did very well. Here are the results and what happened.

Game 1: Richmond v Navenby
Off to a good start all passing the ball as they should be and all doing very well, they gave it almost all they had. Then Billy took a brilliant throw in and Jamie got it from his chest down to his feet and passed it to Charlie who shot and scored in the bottom corner.
Minutes later they were back on the pitch battling like mad and never stopping. Amazingly for them they had lots of chances but unfortunately they did not go in. So at the end of the game the score was 1 - 0 to Richmond

Game 2: Richmond v Caistor
This game was quite hard because you could tell that they wanted to win and they were working very hard. To mess your mind up the ball was up their end and then down Richmond's end.
Declan passed to Jamie and then onto Charlie. He looked around, he was surrounded by Caistor School so he fought hard and hammered it into the back of the net once again.
Seconds later the centre was taken and they were off again, George passed to Bradley who did a long pass to Charlie who tried a long range shot. The Caistor keeper looked like he was going to save it but he let it slip through his hands and over the line.
This amazing goal meant another centre. Off they went once again and they wanted the game to be safe before half time. Billy took a throw in which Declan headed onto Jamie who controlled it on his chest before volleying it into the back of the net.
In the second half they battled but most of the effort went into the first half so it stayed at 3 - 0 to Richmond.

Game 3: Richmond v Bourne Westfield
The whistle was blown and they were ready to go. Halfway thought the first half Declan was tripped in the box and the referee awarded a penalty. Everyone agreed that Jamie should take it. He aimed for the corner and whack it went in. Soon half time came and the Richmond players looked as happy as bunnies but the Bourne team did not look very happy.
The second half saw both teams playing with lots of determination. There were no goals in the second half so the final score was Richmond 1 - Bourne 0

Game 4: Richmond v Parish Church
All had a good game working together as they should and Billy took a throw in to Jamie. Jamie passed it to Charlie, who crossed for Declan to score. Just at that moment the half time whistle went.
After half time it got tougher, Parish Church wanted to win badly. They thought they had scored but the referee ruled that their striker had kicked the ball out of goalkeeper Morgan's hands. Good defending from George and Bradley meant there were no more scares and the final result was Richmond 1 Parish Church 0

Game 5: Richmond v Boston West
This game was going to prove a little harder as Boston had won 3 out of 3 games, they were probably our strongest competition.
Play started and everyone seemed a little tense with neither team making much headway. Boston had the first chance but Hanley was able to turn the shot away for a corner.
At the other end Declan rounded the keeper and looked certain to score until a strong challenge saw him collide heavily with the post and a corner given. Luckily Declan avoided serious injury and was soon back on his feet.
Rain started to fall as the second half began. Boston attacked down their left, the ball appeared to go out of play for a Richmond throw in but unfortunately the referee did not call this. The Richmond players protested  but play carried on, again Richmond claimed the ball had gone out, this time for a goal kick, but again the referee ruled play on, resulting in a shot being fired past Hanley into the bottom left corner. Richmond players were gutted and fought hard but could not find an equaliser resulting in their first defeat of the tournament.

Game 6: Richmond v St Mary's
This was the last game of the tournament. Play had been held up for awhile by heavy rain and a thunder storm. Luckily Navenby had just defeated Boston West, which meant Richmond had to win and better Boston's score by at least 3 goals.
Richmond started strongly and carried on throughout the game. A throw in was taken by St Mary's, George tackled well and won the ball. He passed to Charlie who did a long accurate shot and scored. Soon enough the centre was taken and St Mary's attacked the Richmond end. Bradley stopped them and released the ball to Jamie who took his chance well to make the half time score 2 - 0
In the second half Richmond picked up where they had left off with strong play being rewarded by a goal from Declan. That meant that we were top of the league but if Boston scored we would be pipped on goal difference so the team kept pushing forward and with time running out Declan was brought down in the box and the referee awarded a penalty. Jamie stepped up to the spot and fired the ball into the left hand corner.
Shortly after that the final whistle went and Richmond had won 4 - 0

Richmond were the winners of the tournament with Boston West coming second. They are now through to the Regional Finals to be played in Nottingham on the 15th March 2014. We wish them lots of luck.
